Guests stepped back in time at the historic Hill of The O’Neill as council chairperson, Cllr Deirdre Varsani, played host in the Cúirt na mBaird (Bardic Court), an immersive celebration of Gaelic culture, food, music, poetry and storytelling.
The event featured Irish and English dual language performances from Gaeilscoil Aodha Rua Choir, harpist Aoibheann Uí Dhóibhlín, Dearbhla Scallon, Peter McKenna, Thomas Finnegan, Tony Gervin, and Déaglán Ó Dóibhlinn, who brought the sights and sounds of a medieval Gaelic court to life.
From bagpipes and traditional war pipes, bódhrán traditional harp and uileann pipe music to bardic poetry, legend, song and a dramatic Samhain-inspired finale, guests experienced an engaging journey back in time thousands of years.
The council chairperson wishes to give special thanks to all performers, participants and attendees who joined the council chairperson for this unique evening celebrating the traditions, stories and spirit of Gaelic Ireland on one of the most significant ancient sites in Ulster.
