Packed house for Donaghmore Historical Society’s opening talk

Donaghmore Historical Society began the new season with a talk by East Tyrone historian

A packed Heritage Centre and a lively atmosphere marked the opening of Donaghmore Historical Society’s new season on Monday 12th October.

East Tyrone historian Fearghal Mac Bhloscaidh shared fresh research from his forthcoming book, Red Triangle: Workers, Loyalists and Partition – A North of Ireland History. His engaging delivery and strong local connections brought the history to life, making for an evening full of energy.

The society’s new sound system and hearing loop were warmly welcomed, with one audience member describing every word as “clear as a bell”.

Others joined through Zoom, while tea, biscuits and conversation rounded off the evening.

The next talk takes place on Monday 9th November at 8pm in the Heritage Centre, Donaghmore, when society chair Rev Dr Tony Davidson will present ‘Francis Hutcheson, Father of the Enlightenment and Son of Ulster’.

His book, Meeting Among the Spires, will be on sale for £20. The talk will also be available live on Zoom, with online booking through Eventbrite. All generations are warmly welcome.

Admission is £5, or free with annual membership of £20. For membership, donations or enquiries, email [email protected].
