'Rain Dears' weather the storm to top Winter League at Dungannon Golf Club

AFTER a storm-hit weekend, 51 ladies turned out for week two of Dungannon Golf Club’s Winter League, with the ‘Rain Dears’ surging to the top of the table with 89 points.

As the recent storms prevented last weekend’s men’s competition from going ahead, only the women’s Winter League survived: the scores are in for Week Two. In the first week the Frozen Divots were clear leaders with several teams tightly bunched in their wake. This week was a different story, the winning team, the Rain Dears, galloped to the top of the table with a score of 89 points and the Iced Tees propped up the table with 63 points.

Anything can happen in golf and fortunes change! Six cards from each team is a huge ask but the Rain Dears fielded a full team this week and are to be congratulated.

The Snow Queens came in second place with 86 points, helped enormously by our top golfer this week, Sarah Rafferty who scored 21 points.

Special mention for The Rainbows’ team member, Anne Burns who carded 19 points.

There were two 2s this week, Karen Hetherington at the 6th hole and Alison Chestnutt at the 9th hole.

Fifty-one ladies turned out to enjoy this fun event. Our sincere thanks to the team which checks and scores these cards. It continues to be helpful if cards are clearly identifiable and any 2s circled.
