New Editor for Tyrone Courier and Mid-Ulster Courier

Darren Beattie has been named Editor of the Tyrone Courier and Mid-Ulster Courier, taking over from Ian Greer, who has held the role since 2001
Darren Beattie has been appointed Editor of the Tyrone Courier and Mid-Ulster Courier, succeeding Ian Greer, who has led the titles since 2001.
Mr Beattie becomes only the fourth editor of the Tyrone Courier in 96 years, following Ernie Richardson, Richard Montgomery and Mr Greer.
His links with the Courier go back almost 20 years, to a week's work experience at the paper as a 16-year-old.
After graduating from Ulster University in 2012, he began his career as a junior reporter on the Ulster Gazette, then part of Alpha Media Group. He moved to the Tyrone Constitution, rising to senior journalist and covering major news and sporting events across the region.
He returned to the Courier as Deputy Editor in 2022, before joining TNT Sports in 2023 as Senior Digital Editor. There he helped oversee coverage across TNT Sports' digital platforms, including the 2024 Paris Olympics, and interviewed leading sporting figures such as former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
Mr Beattie said: "It's a real honour to become Editor of the Tyrone Courier and Mid-Ulster Courier. The Courier has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and for generations it has been part of life across Tyrone and Mid-Ulster. It has chronicled the stories of our communities since 1880, and my ambition is to build on that legacy so it keeps telling the stories that matter to local people for generations to come.
"I'd like to thank Ian Greer for his dedication to the paper over so many years, and for the support and guidance he has given me throughout my career.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at TNT Sports and I'm grateful for the experience it gave me in digital journalism, but the chance to lead the Courier was one I couldn't turn down. Under Iconic Media's ownership there is real potential to grow our digital presence, reach new audiences and make sure our journalism is available wherever and however people choose to get their news."
Martin Little, Chief Content Officer of Iconic Media Group, said: "Congratulations to Darren on his appointment. He knows the Courier and its readers better than anyone, and he brings digital experience at the highest level of sports journalism. That combination is exactly what the paper needs for its next chapter.
"I'd also like to thank Ian for more than two decades of outstanding service to the Courier and the communities it serves."
