Final replay victors will take on Clonduff in Ulster Championship

The Tyrone champions will have little time to savour their success, with Friday’s replay winners set to face Down champions Clonduff in an Ulster Club Championship first-round tie at Páirc Esler in Newry on Sunday week.
Either Errigal Ciaran or Edendork will carry Tyrone’s hopes in the Ulster Club Championship in a first
round clash with Down champions Clonduff at Pairc Esler in Newry on Sunday week.
But they’ll have just over a week to prepare for the Pairc Esler, while the Mourne kingpins will be rested
and ready, three weeks after defeating Burren to claim the Down title.
Edendork and Errigal will meet again in the Tyrone SFC replay on Friday evening to decide who goes
forward to represent the county on the provincial stage.
Edendork have never competed in the top flight provincial championship, while Errigal’s record in the
Ulster series outshines that of every other Tyrone team.
They’re the only club to have gone all the way and won the provincial title, and they’ve done it three
times – in 1993, 2002 and 2024.
Two years ago they went a step further and reached the All-Ireland final for the first time, losing to Dublin
side Cuala at Croke Park.
Meanwhile, Tyrone Intermediate champions Rock will also begin their provincial adventure on the
weekend after next, when they also made the trip to Newry.
The St Padtrick’s, who defeated Pomeroy in a replayed county decider, take on Down kingpins Rostrevor.
And Tyrone Junior champions Fintona will enjoy home advantage at O’Neills Healy Park for their first
round meeting with Urris of Donegal.
At the launch of the GAA, Ladies Club Football, and Camogie All-Ireland Club Championships, sponsors
AIB signalled its intent to celebrate the coaches, mentors, volunteers and players whose commitment
brings these championships to life year after year.
This season, AIB will shine a light on the people who help shape every club journey: the coaches who
build players' skills and confidence, the mentors who guide them, and the volunteers and supporters who
give their time and encouragement.
The 2026/2027 campaign celebrates the joy found in everyday moments of encouragement, guidance, and
support across clubs that often spans generations.
It highlights how these cumulative experiences, powered by dedicated coaches, mentors, and volunteers
empower players at every stage of their club journey.
The AIB Club Championships hold a unique place in the heart of Irish communities, where the real
impact of the games is felt by people in every county for generations – not just by those who take to the
pitch each weekend.
AIB is embarking on its 36th year supporting the AIB GAA Club Championship, its 14th year of backing
the AIB Camogie Club Championship, and its third year as proud sponsor of the AIB Ladies Club
Football Championships.
As the first sponsor to support the four codes of Gaelic Games at a national level, AIB continues to
champion the players and people behind them who make club life so special.
With this longstanding tradition in Gaelic Games, AIB understands that clubs are more than just places,
they are places where support comes to life - behind every club are those who lift us all.
As county championships reach their pinnacle and attention shifts to the AIB Provincial Championship
series, the club game enters an exciting new era.
The dynamics of competition have changed significantly at all levels — driven by new rules already
reshaping Gaelic Football across both Men’s and Women’s competitions.
Across every code, players have embraced these changes to deliver unforgettable performances and
thrilling contests. AIB is proud to stand alongside these dedicated athletes, whose commitment and deep
connection to their communities continue to define the club game.
Speaking at the launch, AIB Chief Customer Officer, Orlaith Ryan said: “AIB is very proud to continue
our deep-rooted support for the AIB GAA Club Championships, AIB Ladies Club Football
Championships and AIB Camogie Club Championships. “Club Championships stir emotions like nothing
else. Players give everything on the pitch, but everyone around the club, whatever their role, finds
themselves completely all-in.
“Behind every player are coaches, mentors, and volunteers whose time, knowledge and encouragement
shape lives well beyond the pitch. We look forward to celebrating these people and their contribution
throughout another thrilling championship season.”
Also, speaking at the launch, Camogie Association president Brian Molloy said: “Club is the heartbeat of
our game. With county finals concluding and the 2026 AIB Camogie Club Championships getting
underway, teams everywhere will be dreaming of emulating the success of Athenry, Camross, Brídíní Óga
and Éire Óg Carrickmore, who all enjoyed memorable campaigns last year across our four grades.
“I would like to thank AIB for their continued support of the club championships and for their
commitment to all four Gaelic games codes. It is a great example of the power of working together, and of
what can be achieved when we support our games collectively. I wish all clubs the very best of luck in the
coming weeks.”
GAA president Jarlath Burns stated: “Another action-packed AIB GAA Club Championship season
awaits, and there is no competition quite like it for emotional connection.
“Everyone involved, from the players to the coaches, mentors, backroom teams, volunteers and supporters
find themselves all in.
“The impact of this championship is lived by people in every club and community in every county, and
following your club campaign is a tradition passed down through generations.
“AIB's continued support of the Club Championships is a fitting celebration of what makes club Gaelic
games so unique.”
Ladies Football Association president Trina Murray added: “We are delighted to continue our partnership
with AIB for the AIB Ladies Club Football Championships. Club players represent their teams and
communities with immense pride, supported every step of the way by coaches, mentors, families and
volunteers.
“By celebrating the players and the people who help them to grow in confidence and fulfil their potential,
AIB is shining a welcome light on the spirit of our clubs and our game.”
