Benburb actress Melanie Lavery will make her film debut in ‘Faraway Home’ in November

WELL-KNOWN local actress, Melanie Lavery, from Benburb, will be riding the crest of the wave over the coming weeks, awaiting the opening night of her first film role.

The film will premiere in Belfast’s Odeon Cinema, with the opening night taking place on Thursday, November 5.

Melanie will make her film debut playing ‘Eileen’ in the feature film ‘Faraway Home’, directed by Terry Loane. Based upon the book of the same name, the film follows the true story of a group of Jewish children and young people who move from Australia to Northern Ireland during the second World War to seek safety and protection.

Melanie studied for three years at the famous Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before graduating just over a year ago.

Although she has performed in various stage productions across the UK and Ireland including ‘An Armed robbery in a petrol station of the A38’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’, this will be her first film role and a great start to her career.

Melanie’s family would like to wish her all the best in her endeavours and are immensely proud of what she has achieved and what the future holds!
