Killyman Road, Dungannon, speeding concerns prompt calls for action

Concerns have been expressed over speeding along the Killyman Road in Dungannon
CONCERNS over speeding along the Killyman Road in Dungannon have been raised by local residents, with calls for greater enforcement and improved road safety measures.
Residents have contacted Councillor Clement Cuthbertson about the speed of vehicles along the busy road. He raised the possibility of additional 30mph reminder signs with DfI Roads, but the Department advised that such signage is not considered necessary once motorists enter a 30mph zone, unless the speed limit changes.
Mr Cuthbertson said residents have also contacted the PSNI, which has given assurances that speed checks will be carried out in the area. The location is also on the Policing and Community Safety Partnership’s (PCSP) list for a Speed Indicator Device (SID), although no timescale has yet been confirmed.
He also highlighted ongoing concerns about the use of e-scooters along the road, stressing the need to prioritise the safety of residents and pedestrians.
He added: “Road safety must remain a priority, particularly along busy roads with residential properties and pedestrian activity. I would appeal to all motorists using the Killyman Road to be mindful of their speed, observe the 30mph limit and drive with care.”
