A missing persons support group has released a new image of what Dungannon man, Thomas McReynolds, might look like on the 25th anniversary of his disappearance from the town

A MISSING persons support group has released a new image of what a Dungannon man might look like on the 25th anniversary of his disappearance from the town.

Thomas McReynolds, known to family and friends as Daron, was 36 when he went missing from his home in the Co Tyrone town in November 2001 leaving all his belongings behind.

It is understood he had rented the property for six months, paying the full bill in advance.

While police believe he may have been murdered, extensive searches failed to uncover his remains leaving his family unsure of his fate.

Now a group called ‘Missing Persons Support’ has issued an appeal for help to find him, saying “his family want to know where he is or what happened to him”.

They added: “It is 25 years since Daron went missing, please keep his family in your thoughts.”

Daron, whose full name is Thomas Daron Porter McReynolds, is described as 5 ft 10 and of medium build with blue eyes and greying brown hair when he went missing.

It is not known what he was wearing at the time he disappeared but he drove a white Volkswagen car with the registration number GUI 8536, which has never been located.

Missing Person Support added: “Police want to hear from people involved in the motor salvage trade and may have scrapped the car in late 2001 or early 2002. Detectives have said as a result of the length of time Daron has been missing and lack of any "routine life activity" they believe he was murdered.

“His family wants to know where he is or what happened to him.”

They are urging anyone with information to call the PSNI on 101 or call Crimestoppers Northern Ireland on 0800 555 111 if you would like to remain anonymous.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A murder investigation was launched in June 2006 following the disappearance of Daron McReynolds in November 2001.

"The case currently sits within the caseload of Legacy Investigation Branch (LIB) for future review in accordance with LIB’s Case Allocation Model. Regrettably, due to the LIB caseload, we are unable to give any undertaking as to when this review will commence."
